PLEASE NOTE: This year’s conference has been delayed indefinitely due to the global situation around coronavirus and travel concerns. We are aiming at a new date sometime in September or October, though this is obviously dependent on how the situation develops.

Welcome to the website for the 4th annual White Rose South Asia Network postgraduate conference, to take place at the University of Leeds.

The event has been hugely successful in previous years, with increasing numbers of PGRs and ECRs attending and much collaboration and networking taking place year on year. In 2017, the theme was ‘Futures Past: South Asia Then and Now’. In 2018 it took place at the University of Sheffield with a focus on ‘Voices through History’. Last May, it took place at the University of York under the title ‘South Asia: Exclusion, Dialogue, Exchange’, featuring multiple parallel panels, contributions from academic partners, and a fascinating keynote presentation from Professor Sarah Ansari.

This year, the theme will be Space, Place and Temporalities, with a keynote presentation by Professor Sujit Sivasundaram (Centre for South Asian Studies, Cambridge). The PGR organisers for the event – Benjamin Holt, Meena Menon, Dr Radha Kapuria, Zaynab Seedat, Tom Shillam, Arunima Theraja – are already deeply engrossed in planning for the event and looking forward to hosting the conference in 2020. See the call for papers here.
